Hyderabad Central University Admission 2023-2024

The Last date of application for admission to the University of Hyderabad is 3rd May 2023. This deadline is applicable to all the courses offered by the University of Hyderabad.

Admission Overview

• The University of Hyderabad conducts entrance exam & interview for admission to Integrated M.Sc, Integrated MA, Integrated M.Tech, M.Sc, M.A, MPA, MFA, MBA, MCA, PhD and M.Phil.
• For admission to post-graduate courses, the candidate needs to hold a Graduation degree with minimum marks for different subjects.
• A Post-Graduate degree with at least 55% of aggregate marks is required for M.Phil admission.
• A Valid GATE score is required for admissions to Bioinformatics, IC Technology M.Tech, CS/Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology courses.
• Admission to M.Sc in Biotechnology is offered through CEEB which is conducted by DBT, Government of India.
• For MCA in Computer Applications, Seats will be allocated through counselling at the University of Hyderabad.
• For admissions to MBA courses, a valid CAT score is required. The final admission is offered after the completion of Group Discussion & Interview.
• Admission to PhD &M.Phil course is granted on the basis of written examination and interview after the required eligibility is cleared.
• Candidates who have cleared UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ NBHM/ JRF/ ICMR/ ICAR/ DBT will be exempted from the written test for admission to PhD &M.Phil program.
• The University of Hyderabad provides reservation and fee exemption for candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD/ Defence wards/ Kashmiri Migrants.

Admission Procedure 

The University of Hyderabad follows a central selection procedure for admission to all the programs. The steps to apply are below.

Step 1: Visit the official website of University of Hyderabad.
Step 2: Check the Eligibility Criteria of the program that you want to pursue.
Step 3: Click on the ‘APPLY NOW’ link.
Step 4: Click on the ‘Start New Application’ link.
Step 5: Fill in all your credentials and educational details.
Step 6: Upload your Photo, Signature and Caste Certificate (Applicable only for reserved categories)
Step 7: Click on Submit.
Step 8: Pay the application fees prescribed by the University.

Application Fee

• For General candidates, the application fee is INR 600.
• For EWS candidates, the application fee is INR 550.
• For OBC candidates, the application fee is INR 400.
• For SC/ ST/ PWD candidates, the application fee is INR 275.
• Application fee once paid is non-refundable.

Eligibility & Selection:

• Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics/ Statistics: The candidate should have passed the degree with Mathematics/ Statistics as one of the subjects with a minimum of 60% marks. Candidates holding BA/ B.Sc (Honours) degree in Mathematics/ Statistics with 55% marks can also apply.
  Test (75 marks) & Interview (25 marks) will be conducted.
• Animal Biology & Biotechnology: Should have passed the B.Sc degree with minimum 60% marks. The written test will be conducted for the admission.
• Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences: For admission to Ocean & Atmospheric Science courses, minimum 55% marks required in graduation with Mathematics & Physics as compulsory subjects. Candidates holding B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering can also apply. The written test will be conducted for the admission.
• Physics: The candidate should hold a graduation degree in science with a minimum of 60% marks. Physics should be a major subject and Mathematics should be an optional subject. Candidates who hold a B.Sc degree with 55% aggregate marks and 60% in Physics, Electronics or Mathematics can also apply.
  Test (75 marks) & Interview (25 marks) are conducted.
• Chemistry: Science with at least 60% marks in aggregate of Chemistry and other science subjects, preferably Physics & Mathematics.
  Test (75 marks) & Interview (25 marks) are conducted.
• Biochemistry: Science degree with minimum 60% marks in aggregate of science subjects. The candidate must have studied either Chemistry or Biochemistry as one of the main subjects. A written test is conducted for admission.
• Plant Biology & Biotechnology: The candidate should hold a graduation degree in science with at least 60% marks overall. One of the mentioned subjects should be a major paper: Botany, Microbiology, Chemistry, Genetics, Biochemistry, and Biotechnology. A written test is conducted.
• Molecular Microbiology: A Graduation degree in science with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks is required. Along with that any one of the mentioned subjects: Genetics, Biochemistry, Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Life Sciences should be one of the main papers. A written test is conducted.
• Health Psychology: For admission in Health Psychology courses a Graduation with at least 60% marks with Psychology as one of the main subjects. A written test is conducted.

• Neural & Cognitive Sciences: The candidates should have passed the degree course with minimum 55% marks in any branch of Engineering, Social Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science, Medicine graduates are also eligible to apply. A written test will be conducted for the admission.

Eligibility & Selection Process

• For all the subjects, the minimum mark required in 10+2 is 60% with the concerned subject as one of the main subjects.
• For Mathematics and Hindi, there is an entrance test along with an interview. The written test carries 75 marks, and the interview carries 25 marks.
• For all the other subjects, only the written test is conducted.

• For all the subjects, there is a Written Test conducted. The admission is granted based on merit secured in the Written Test.
• English: At least 50% marks overall in the Bachelor’s Degree. If English is an optional subject, the candidate needs to secure 50% in English. If English is a compulsory subject, the candidate needs to secure 55% in English.
• Philosophy: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 50% marks.
• Hindi: Bachelor’s Degree/Post-Graduate Diploma in Hindi/ PGDTS with at least 40% marks and Hindi as a subject.
• Telugu: Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks overall. If Telugu is an optional subject, the candidate needs to secure 50% in Telugu. If Telugu is a compulsory subject, the candidate needs to secure 55% in Telugu.
• Urdu: Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks overall. Minimum 50% in Urdu/ Persian/ Arabic as optional paper. Minimum 55% in Urdu/ Persian/ Arabic as compulsory paper.
• Applied Linguistics: At least 50% marks in Graduation with English as a compulsory or optional paper.
• Comparative Literature: Graduation with English as a compulsory or optional paper with minimum 50% overall marks.
• Economics: Bachelor’s Degree in Economics with at least 50% marks. Candidates holding bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or any of the Social Sciences subjects with 60% marks can also apply.
• History: The candidate needs to hold a graduation degree with minimum 50% marks in History or 55% in Economics, Public Administration, Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology, Indology, Archaeology, Ancient Indian History & Culture. If the candidate holds a bachelor’s degree with 60% aggregate marks, he or she can also apply.
• Political Science: At least 50% marks in graduation in any subject of Social Science & Humanities.
• Sociology: At least 50% in graduation with 50% in Sociology or 50% in aggregate in all the Social science subjects, Philosophy, Communication and Linguistics. Candidates holding any Bachelor degree with 60% marks can also apply.
• Anthropology: Any Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks.

MCA Admission
The University of Hyderabad offers an MCA course in Computer Applications.

• First Class Bachelor’s degree is mandatory with at least 60% marks, in any science discipline.
• Mathematics is a mandatory subject in 10+2.

How to Download the HCU Admit Card?

• Visit the official website of the University https://www.uohyd.ac.in/admissions/
• Login with the application number and date of birth
• Click on “Continue” to submit the required details
• Download the hall ticket from the new window
• Take a print out and carry this hall ticket for the exam
