Online LLB Course

Are you searching for Online LLB courses in India? Online courses in law help you to learn new skills and advance your career. But the Bar Council of India doesn’t recognize online LLB courses, and you will need to purse a regular LLB course to practice as an advocate in India. Online law courses will help you to gain a better understanding of the legal process but not valid for enrolment as an advocate and legal practice.

LLB Correspondence FAQ

1. Is LLB Distance Education Approved by Bar Council of India

If you want to become a lawyer and practice in India, LL.B through distance or correspondence mode may not be the best option for you. The Bar Council of India does not recognize BA LLB Correspondence, L.L.B Degree from Open University, or L.L.B. Degree by Distance mode and you will not be able to practice in Indian courts with L.L.B. degrees earned through distance learning. For more details read Bar Council of India Rules given at the bottom of this page.

2. Can I become a lawyer in India with LLB Correspondence Degree?

No. As per the Bar Council Rules, a person can register and himself/herself as an advocate if one has passed his law degree from any University approved by the Bar Council of India. Since the Bar Council of India doesn’t accept L.L.B. correspondence courses, you can’t become a lawyer and practice in India. Generally, law courses in distance mode are done for academic purpose and not to practice in the court.

3. Is Advocate Registration Possible with LLB Correspondence Degree?

No. Bar Council of India (BCI) do not recognize the law degree earned through distance education; hence Advocate Registration is not possible with L.L.B. Correspondence Degree.

4. Does UGC recognize LLB Correspondence Courses?

Though the Bar Council of India does not approve the L.L.B. degree programs in distance mode, most of the law programs in distance mode are approved by the Distance Education Council (D.E.C.) and the U.G.C. If you want to take admission in distance mode L.L.B., then please check the recognition of University in the official websites of the Bar Council of India and U.G.C.

5. Does IGNOU Provide Distance LLB Courses?

No, IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) provides some certificate and diploma courses in Law, and IGNOU doesn’t provide Distance L.L.B. programs. You will not be able to earn a law degree from IGNOU through correspondence.

6. Does Delhi University offer LLB Correspondence Program?

No, The Delhi University doesn’t have any correspondence degree program Law.

7. Can I enroll as an advocate with an L.L.M. (Master of Law) without having passed the L.L.B.?

No, Some Universities abroad offer L.L.M. programs without a law degree. But to enroll as an advocate and practice in Indian courts, you need to have a degree in Law in regular mode. (Not in distance mode)
